ThePIP Modular System - Global Isolation
When any of ThePIP modules reaches a temperature of 85°C ± 5° ThePIP device closes allowing a small short term leakage current to flow to earth. This will cause the RCD to operate and isolate all devices supplied by the RCD. The earth leakage current is clamped to a maximum of 6mA i.e. A level not sufficient to raise the touch potential of any metalwork to a dangerous level but allowing the fault to be recorded (any periodic fixed wire test would indicate a lower than expected voltage insulation reading on the circuit, prompting investigation).
Remember the neutral bar and line connections are both at risk from HRC, so monitor them both.
